Best friends can be described as many things. To some, its a sibling or family member, to others its people you wish were your family members. None the less, a best friend at times can mean more to you than your family can. Its time to start gifting them like it. Every year my best friend and I exchange gifts, she gets the short end of the stick because my birthday and Christmas are only twenty days apart, but whatever! This is my Best Friend Gift Guide!
Picking out a present that will be actually used or meaningful can be tricky sometimes. Maybe your best friend has everything or is super picky. Maybe she hates getting gifts, but you have to give her something, and you want to, but have no idea what. All of these people are somehow rolled into one person when it comes to mine, so maybe I got the short end of the stick after all. I have picked out my favorite items for a best friend gift guide and compiled them into this pretty blog post package. Time to get out the wrapping paper and start shopping for your best friend, because let’s be honest, they deserve it.
The Different Gift Options
Sometimes I go through phases where I want to buy just a hundred small little things and give them to my best friend as one big gift. Other times, I want to pick out one super cool piece that I know she will love and go crazy for. Either option is a great one, and deciding between the two is your decision. I have put together in this best friend gift guide ideas for both routes, so you will have to pick this out on your own. I can never decide which option is better, and I’m not sure one does beat the other, so why not try out both. When I go with the small gift options, I like to pick out a theme.
Keep it Cozy
A theme such as cozy, which would include items like pajamas, a robe, fuzzy socks or slippers. I love giving and wearing these Chrissy’s long socks in the winter under my boots. They would make a great addition to any cozy gift package! They’re super soft and durable, and won’t wear out like a lot of other boot socks I’ve had. Adding in maybe a hat or blanket / scarf is perfect for that casual friend who just wants to comfortable all the time.
You can see a handful of my picks in the image above. For shopping, find them in the rotating carousel widget under this paragraph. Simply click on the item in the widget that you want to see more information for, and buy directly off that link.
For the Beauty Guru
Another theme idea is beauty. Filling up a cute makeup pouch or bin with pieces such as a face mask, lipstick, eye shadows or setting spray are great neutral beauty products you can get for anyone. You won’t need to go snooping through their makeup drawer to find their skin tone shades. Getting a gift receipt is always a smart thing to do also.
A few years ago, I filled a cute makeup bag with travel mascara in my friends favorite brand, a bronzer I know she had been eyeing, and a new bottle of setting spray. All of these pieces were things she can use everyday, and are never a bad thing to have extras of. Find my current beauty obsessions, perfect for gifting your BFF, below!
Hostess with the Mostest
I have no idea how to spell “mostest” and I don’t think it’s really a word, but its something my dad always used to say to me when I was a hostess. Now every time I say that word it has to come out as well, so there you go. If your friend is someone who loves to entertain, or even simply decorate her home, apartment or room, these are the best gifts!
Most of these I already have, and love to give out as gifts as well because of how much I use and love them. Simple pieces such as a scented candle, a unique night light, throw blanket or a cool set of wine / cocktail glasses are always safe and easy gifts that everyone will love. Why not throw in a few and gift them to your favorite person?
Go Big or Go Home
If you want to go the other gifting route and give one big awesome gift, I have the perfect ideas for you! Depending on how much money you want to spend, check out my favorite big gift ideas. Or, if you want to create a gift that just keeps on giving, consider a subscription box service. Paying for the first year or six months of a subscription box is a great gift idea, and keeps the fun and excitement going.
There are tons of options for these now, basically one for everyone. I currently get the FabFitFun box, and I love it, as does many of my friends. If you want to learn more about it, you can here. Plus, if you sign up with my link, you can get a free $15 credit! To use my link, click here.
Another great option, and less expensive one, is Ipsy. I believe Ipsy is $10 a month and you get anywhere from 5-8 beauty products per month and cute makeup pouch. I used to use this one but made the switch to FabFitFun after about a year because I wanted a wider variety of products. But, if your bestie is a beauty lover, this is a great one! If wine is more your friend’s style, like it is for me, Winc is also super cool. Its sort of like a subscription service for wine lovers. You can learn more about Winc, here.
Gifts Under $50
Fun pieces like a super soft hat and gloves set, or a cashmere scarf are always well received. I don’t think I have ever been disappointed to open up a box and see a cashmere scarf. Seriously who would? Or if you want to go more personalized, these scented candles. While yes sort of pricey for a candle, are huge and actually makes your entire home smell amazing! They last a super long time and are worth the cost. I have gone through so many and will only buy this brand now. If you actually want to smell the candle, these are the ones to go with. Find out your friend’s favorite scent and go to town.
I know what you’re thinking, a travel mug? Why include that in a best friend gift guide? Well, these mugs are double wall insulated so they will actually keep a drink hot or cold all day long, and I mean all day long. I have so many and pretty much only use them, even around the house. I have put ice water in my mug during the afternoon, and waken up the next day to ice still in the mug. They are great gifts, and there are so many fun colors and prints! The leopard options come in a two-pack for under $25, so you could even match with your bestie, if you wanted!
$100 & Over
Why not splurge a little go for something really cool. If your friend loves coffee, this espresso maker is an amazing gift. I would be so excited to get this, and I have it on my list already! Recently, I ditched my Keurig, they’re so bad for the environment with the constant disposable K-Cups. Not to mention the chemicals found in the packaging of each K-Cup. I now use a simple $20 drip coffee piece. All you do is add ground coffee and hot water and wait a few minutes. Its power-free and all natural. I love it, but some mornings I need a little more a kick. That’s why I really want to get this super cute espresso maker for those extra long mornings. I think the rest of my under $100 gift options speak for themselves, so I will let them do just that.
If you have a favorite gift you’re BFF has gifted you, please share and let me know what it was in the comments below! I am always looking for more great ideas to add to my best friend gift guide. My next gift guide launching on Tuesday morning will cover just what to get your boyfriend, husband, brother or any guy in your life. Last years gift guides are linked, here! So keep an eye out, and happy shopping!
