Let’s talk designer regrets, here are my top designer bags I would not buy again and why!
As someone who lives and breathes fashion—and has a bit of a soft spot for luxury handbags—there’s nothing more frustrating than investing in a designer bag that doesn’t live up to the hype. Over the years, I’ve tested a lot of iconic styles, and while some have become forever favorites, others left me wondering, “Why did I buy this?”
If you’re currently building your luxury collection or thinking about your next splurge, this post is for you. I’m breaking down the designer bags I would not buy again, and exactly why they didn’t work for me, even though they’re highly coveted.
1. Chanel Boy Bag – Beautiful, But impractical
Let’s start with a shocker: the Chanel Boy Bag. I had such high hopes for this classic—it’s edgy, chic, and undeniably Chanel. But after wearing it for a few months, the cons became impossible to ignore.
Why I Would not Buy It Again:
- Design Flaw: There’s a large gap under the flap that small items like lipstick, hair ties, or AirPods can easily fall through. It’s a disaster waiting to happen if you’re a “throw-it-in-and-go” kind of girl like me.
- Sharp Edges: The metal corners look stunning, but they’re so sharp. I found myself constantly getting scratched, especially when wearing it under my shoulder or crossbody. Not cute.

2. Prada Vitello Daino Mini Vanity Bag – Form Over Function
When I first got my hands on the Prada Vitello Daino Mini Bag (a super cute vanity-style case), I was obsessed with the aesthetic. It’s compact, structured, and perfect for travel… or so I thought.

designer bag i would not buy again and why:
- Difficult to Use: Because of how the top lid is secured, you have to physically put the bag down to zip or unzip it. Imagine fumbling at dinner or while shopping—it’s just not practical for daily life.

3. Goyard Saint Louis GM in White – Gorgeous, but Too High-Maintenance
I really wanted to love my Goyard Saint Louis GM Tote in White. It’s ultra-light, fits everything, and has that quiet luxury vibe. But unfortunately, it ended up being way too fussy.

Why I Wouldn’t Buy It Again:
- Color Transfer: The white shade absorbs dye from dark clothing (hello, denim!) and even discolors with sweat under the arm.
- No Structure: Bonus con—this bag offers zero support, and I always felt like it was one spill away from disaster.

4. Chanel Deauville Tote in Tweed – The High-Maintenance Tote
Tote bags are my love language, and the Chanel Deauville Tote in tweed is undeniably beautiful. But after some real-world wear, I found out the hard way that tweed isn’t meant for every day.

why i would not buy this designer bag again:
- Fabric Issues: The tweed started to pill faster than expected, and my light-colored version picked up dye from my dark jeans (even after minimal wear).
- Delicate Material: It looks luxe, but it’s definitely not a throw-it-in-the-car kind of tote. It needs babying.

Final Thoughts
Designer bags are investments—but they’re not always practical. Just because a bag is beautiful doesn’t mean it fits your lifestyle or holds up with regular use. I’m all about intentional luxury these days, and these are bags I’d skip if I had a do-over.
That said, everyone’s needs are different! If one of these works for you, amazing—but hopefully this guide helps you make a more informed decision before your next splurge.
