With winter weather comes the cold and snow, if you live in a climate similar to Ohio. Which, I hate. Take a break from the seasonal depression you are most likely experiencing, and snag some Vitamin D with these sun-loving, top places to travel this winter. If you need some last minute travel tips, check out this post, too.
Savannah, Georgia
Savannah will always have a special place in my heart. Not only is this city full of history, beauty and some might say, ghosts. It also is a super fun place to visit. Come for the warm weather and river-side bar crawls, and leave with memories of night time ghost tours and a sense of history. Savannah is one of the oldest cities in the country, and has many controversial stories surrounding it. If you make the trip, I recommend taking up one of the many nighttime ghost tours, as cheesy as they may seem, they are fun and hold many stories of past Savannah.
Miami, Florida
If you have never been to Miami, it is a must-stop destination at least once in your life. There, you can swim with dolphins, eat dinner on beach side beds or take a sailboat cruise, among other things. The nightlife is infamous, and recommended to experience at least once. Stop and watch the blue waves on the famous South Beach coast and relax, too. I will be spending a night in Miami for my best friends birthday this February, and it will be her first time visiting the southern Florida city!
Los Angeles, California
If you have about 5-7 days free for a vacation, Los Angeles is a great central California hub to do so in. You can easily visit other cities, or stay put and explore the infamous town. When I visited for the first time a few years back, I spent about five days in the main Los Angeles area, and was never bored. We went to the famous Santa Monica pier, Venice Beach, Downtown LA, Hollywood and so many more places. I was more tired when I got back home than I was on the start of my vacation. It’s definitely a city to see, and fun, warm place to travel this winter.
Phoenix, Arizona
If you love the heat, head to Arizona. You can take the scenic route and stick with the national parks and hiking destinations, or you can travel to a high end resort such as the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa. The Grand Canyon is a spot I still need to visit, but the Antelope Canyon and Monument Valley are also high on my list. Its a quick skip, hop and trot away from the Phoenix resorts, so in reality, you could do both!
In the winter, I try to get out the cold as mush as I can. Usually I head to Florida, but these other hot places to travel in winter are high on list this year, too. Break out of your comfort zone and embrace the sunshine, maybe take a solo trip? No matter when, how or why you go on a winter vacation, I recommend picking the best weather you can find.. lol.
