Black Friday Shopping Tips

As a person who hates crowds and shopping malls to begin with, going out late at night to shop Black Friday Deals was something I only enjoyed doing when I was younger. Purely for the reason that it was “cool” to go out late with your friends and buy useless pieces.

I remember one year, in middle school, waiting in line at the mall for the Victoria’s Secret PINK store to open. The line was probably 80-90 people long. We waited for over an hour, and then ended up being pushed into the store when the gate finally lifted. I did not take one step myself, and was gripping my friend Laura (Hi, Laura) so we didn’t get separated. The workers were panicked, and there was no stopped the hundred hormonal teenagers flying through the racks. I think the only things on sale that night were a cheap crew neck sweatshirt and a pair of Yoga Pants, but that was also back in their prime. Not sure if I even bought anything, but I have since never gone back for Black Friday Shopping.

When to Shop Black Friday Online

Black Friday Shopping Tips

What I do love to do, however, is shop Black Friday Deals online! Black Friday and Cyber Monday have all come to merge together to cover the entire weekend now. Making it possible for almost a whole week of sales. Last year, Walmart started their online Black Friday sales on November 8th! I always end up buying some clothes and shoes during these sales, but the most popular items to go on sale are definitely the electronics.

If you are someone who likes to try and snag a cool TV, Apple Watch, Google Home or other electronic, I recommend using Slick Deals to find out in advance who will be offering the best prices on Black Friday. They also offer a list of when each store typically launches their Black Friday ads. This can be super helpful if you want to plan what you’re looking for. The earlier you shop, the better.

As I’m sure you already know, the bigger the savings, the quicker it sells. Which is why its important to know ahead of time when sales start, what you are looking for and where to find it. Slick Deals also offers a time line of last years ads, making it easier to predict when to start looking for this years. If you’re looking for Amazon deals, its better to wait until later in the week. Amazon typically drops their prices towards the end of the week, near the traditional Cyber Monday timeline.

What to Buy during Black Friday

This year, I might try to grab an Apple Watch while on sale. Last year, Target advertised the series 3 watch on sale for $199, while it usually is sold for $279. Another thing I will be keeping an eye out for is beauty sales. Sephora, Ulta and Macy’s are known for offering discounts on pallets and gift sets. I like to buy these for giveaways and stocking suffers!

If you like to shop on Amazon, they always offer huge savings on anything Amazon powered, such as Alexa’s, Audible Memberships, Kindle products and Whole Foods deals. I bought three Phillips Hue Smart Bulbs last year. They were 40% off and are usually a bit pricey.

In the past, I have had great luck purchasing items such as Levi’s denim, winter coats and accessories, boots and booties, and loads of sweaters. Levi’s does a sale every year, and I always make sure to grab a new pair of my all time favorite style, the Wedgie fit. I always end up buying too much. But at least its on sale, right? If you are a big gift buyer during this time, and need some ideas, check out my What to Buy on Amazon post. Or my Amazon Gift Guides for Her and Him, linked here.

I have multiple lists with gift ideas and past gifts I’ve given and received that have always been a hit. Just want to make that sometimes frustrating time a little easier for ya. I even have a gift guide for those fur babies in your life! Let’s be honest, they’re the most important ones.
